Pip
The smallest standard price increment in a forex pair. For most pairs (EUR/USD, GBP/USD), 1 pip = 0.0001. For JPY pairs (USD/JPY), 1 pip = 0.01. The value per pip depends on position size.
How Sigmentum uses it
On a standard lot (100,000 units) of EUR/USD, 1 pip = $10. On a mini lot (10,000 units), 1 pip = $1. This makes pip values central to position sizing: if your stop loss is 20 pips and you want to risk $100 on the trade, you need a position size of 0.5 mini lots (5,000 units), giving a pip value of $0.50 × 20 pips = $100 risk. Sigmentum expresses levels in price terms rather than pips because signals cover multiple asset classes where pip units do not apply.
